Facial Nerve Paralysis

Facial nerve paralysis results in significant psychological and functional disability from the impairment of facial expression, communication, eye protection, and oral competence. Several options are available for rehabilitation of the paralyzed face. Choosing the best procedure for each patient requires a thorough evaluation and determination of etiology, duration, and degree of paralysis and consideration of age and general health status. A complete understanding of facial nerve disorders allows the physician to appropriately assess each patient, determine the potential for recovery, and plan for reconstruction. emedicine

Fever

Important note: while fever is not usually dangerous, it is a sign of infection, and there are some infections that are dangerous to children. How high the fever gets may not tell you how dangerous the infection may be. Infants 3 months of age and younger may not show serious signs of infection until it is too late, so these infants should always be seen by a doctor when febrile. For older infants and children, they should be seen by a doctor or other health care provider if you feel the symptoms may indicate that your child may have a serious infection, or if you are unsure if your child's symptoms are serious or not.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is an illness characterized by severe muscle pain, that is associated with poor sleep and often depression. It shares some of the features of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Indeed, 70% of patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia meet all of the diagnostic criteria for CFS. The major difference between the two is the presence of musculoskeletal pain in fibromyalgia. In medicine, a disease exists when an illness has very specific symptoms and physical exam and laboratory findings. An illness that cannot be as definitively defined and may mimic other conditions is called a syndrome. Fibromyalgia (FMS) is such an illness. (Life extension Foundation)

Allergies are abnormal immune reactions to specific agents known as antigens or allergens. Examples of common allergens are foods, drugs, pollens, dust mites, mold spore, animal danders, feathers, and insect venoms, as well as other substances which nonallergic people find relatively nondangerous with usual exposure.

Allergies may also develop when an otherwise innocent substance has significant contact with an already inflamed surface (sensitization), such as from a viral infection or exposure to irritants, and becomes involved in the immune response. Thereafter, repeat exposure to such a substance may evoke an allergic response with the release of a histamine and a variety of pro-inflammatory substances, including enzymes, leukotrienes, and interleukins, and the creation of damaging free radicals. The multiplicity of these pro-inflammatory substances explains why single medications such as antihistamines often fail to completely control symptoms. (Life Extension

Frozen Shoulder results from the shrinking, and subsequent and scarring of a previously normal joint. Frozen Shoulder results in: Significant loss of movement and shoulder pain. Pain that can last from weeks to many months. Loss of movement that can last months to years. Fortunately, you can take steps to control the pain and regain full range of motion.

We use Active Release Technique to treat Frozen shoulder. ART has proven to be very effective for the treatment of Frozen Shoulder, with a success rate exceeding 80%. ART provides a means to diagnose and treat the underlying causes of soft-tissue injuries.

  • Restore optimal texture and motion.
  • Restore the function of the soft-tissue.
  • Release any entrapped nerves or blood vessels.

This is accomplished through the removal of adhesions in the soft-tissues through the application of specific ART protocols.
