Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's disease is a degenerative central nervous system disorder. In the United States about 1 percent of individuals over the age of 60 are affected.

Characteristic symptoms are tremors or shaking of one or both arms and sometimes of other muscles. Generally muscles are weak and rigid, movements slow and the face expressionless, also the voice becomes weak. Typically the walk is with slow, short, shuffling steps, the arms held stiffly at the sides and the trunk slightly bent forward, the patient may spontaneously break into a shuffling run.

The symptoms of Parkinson's disease are attributed to a loss of brain cells in the substantia nigra that produce the neurotransmitter dopamine. There also seem to be abnormalities in other parts of the brain and in the availability of other neurotransmitters such as serotonin and norepinephrine. (Life Extension Foundation)

Plantar Fasciitis (An inaccurate diagnosis)

Plantar fasciitis is a term that refers to pain on the bottom of the foot. It is a condition that tends to respond poorly to treatment. The actual plantar fascia, seen below, is not the common cause of pain on the bottom of the foot. The Plantar aponeurosis, a long tendon in the bottom of your foot is often involved. Two muscles, the Quadratus plantae and the Flexor digitorum brevis, frequently contribute to the problem.

When a muscle shortens, it is less resilient and is more easily damaged. As the Plantar aponeurosis and the muscles shown above shorten, they produce pain in the bottom of the foot. An inaccurate diagnosis like “plantar fasciitis” can lead to failed treatment. The pain and muscular dysfunction can seriously affect both your training and racing performance. Pneumonia

"Pneumonia" encompasses many different diseases that involve infection or inflammation of the lungs. Pneumonia affects the lungs in two ways.  Lobar pneumonia affects a lobe of the lungs, and bronchial pneumonia can affect patches throughout both lungs. American Lung Association

Polymyalgia Rheumatica

Polymyalgia rheumatica is a systemic rheumatic inflammatory disease characterized by shoulder and hip girdle pain that in some patients can be associated with giant cell arteritis and other diseases. It appears that polymyalgia rheumatica can be an early symptom of a wide range of diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, some cancers, and other degenerative diseases. (Life Extension Foundation)

Prostate, Benign Hypertrophy

  • Enlargement of the prostate gland, which occurs in most men with advancing age, is accompanied by reduced urinary flow and increased residual urine volume. Hormonal imbalances are known to be a major cause of age-related prostate disorders. Here is a step-by-step program to treat symptoms of BPH:
  • First of all, rule out prostate cancer by having a blood PSA test and a digital rectal exam.
  • Next, have your urologist evaluate the size of your prostate gland. A severely overgrown prostate gland may benefit from 5 mg of Proscar every day or every other day in addition to phytotherapies such as saw palmetto, pygeum, and nettle extracts.
  • Most men will experience significant alleviation of symptoms of BPH by using saw palmetto extract by itself, or in combination with pygeum or nettle extract. The precise doses used in the successful clinical studies have been combined into a single formula called Natural Prostate Formula. Suggested dose of Natural Prostate Formula is 1 capsule taken every 12 hours.
  • If severe symptoms of BPH persist, consider aromatase-inhibiting therapy to suppress excess serum estrogen that may be a primary factor in the development and progression of the disease. Arimidex in the low dose of just 0.5 mg, twice a week, usually produces a dramatic and immediate reduction in serum estrogen.
  • Mega Soy therapy in the dose of 135 mg, twice a day, is suggested to help block estrogen receptor sites in prostate cells.
  • If all else fails, and urinary blockage manifests, BPH patients may have no choice but to undergo the transurethral resection procedure that involves the insertion of a "roto-rooter device to literally grind away and remove excess prostate overgrowth. Some men undergo an outpatient procedure and experience little discomfort, while other men encounter pain and other long-term effects. Even after transurethral resection surgery, the proper use of phyto-extracts and/or drugs can help keep the prostate gland from over-growing again. Life Extension Foundation
